New visual identity, profile and website for The Rafto Foundation

10. March 2010
Maritime Colours has developed The Rafto Foundation`s new visual identity and profile. The profile is based on the foundations core values: Courage, Integrity, Consideration and Openness
The work consists of designing a new logo, font and color code, creating direction for image use as well as graphical elements and tools.

Some of our recent work in regards of the visual profile are a new and updated website, printed merchandise, presentation templates and press release templates. The visual identity and profile is built upon Rafto's logo symbol: R for Rafto, R for Rights. The handprint represents individuality. The R-symbol will be used as a gateway and direct attention to individual cases .

The core colors are neutral colors like black and gray/silver.  Every year we will present a new and separate color that is unique for the prize winner. The reason for this is to focus on The Rafto Foundation`s cases.

Maritime Colours will also announce that The Rafto Foundation has launched their new website. The organisation`s new webpage is designed and developed by Maritime Colours. The foundation will also be using Publish Online to administer the site.

The Rafto Foundation is a non governmental organisation
The Rafto Foundation is dedicated to the global promotion of human rights. The main activities of the Foundation are:
  • presenting the annual Rafto Prize for human rights work
  • following up projects concerning the Rafto Laureates
  • organising educational projects that promote human rights
The Helsinki Accord
The Rafto Foundation was established in the humanistic tradition of the Helsinki Accord.

Three fundamental human rights

The Rafto Foundation aims to promote the three fundamental human rights of intellectual, political and economic freedom.

The Rafto Prize
The Rafto Foundation has since 1987 awarded, annually, the Rafto Prize for Human Rights to advocates of human rights and democracy. The prize commemorates Thorolf Rafto, professor of economic history at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen. Professor Rafto devoted his life to promoting democracy and respect for human rights, especially in Eastern Europe.
